ISO Workshop

iso workshop

An introduction to the romantic organ and the techniques of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll

Nicolas Toussaint organised the first ISO-workshop around Cavaillé-Coll organworks until Sunday April 22, 2007 to Wednesday April 25, 2007. Twenty-four colleages from all other the world were registred for only twelve places. So a second session will be organised on next year 2008.

Bertrand Cattiaux, Laurent Plet et Denis Marconnet helped for managing.

The Workshop was conducted at the organ (37/III) of the church Saint-Maurice, Bécon-les-Bruyères, built in 1865 by Cavaillé-Coll and initially destined for the private chapel of the Marquis de Lambertye in Gerbéviller.

The matter of the workshop was an analysis of the voicing concept of Cavaillé Coll through pipes measurements taken in the organ of Bécon. Introduction to the scaling and cut-up tables commonly used by Cavaillé-Coll. Evaluation of the correspondence of these values to the collected measurements, comparison with other instruments.

Practical work : voicing of foundation stops. Each participant had the opportunity to voice pipes of Harmonic Flute.

During the workshop, we visited two main Cavaillé-Coll's organs : St Antoine des Quinze-Vingts and St Sulpice.
